This book provides a refreshing and novel twist on the underlying cognitive processes of great decision-making. Riel and Martin present the theory of integrative thought and the practical direction to implement it in real-world application. The quality of presentation takes the reader beyond critical thinking to its application and enrichment of great decision-making. Theoretical yet practical in its content, the book provides a methodology and a great set of tools to view our world differently and analytically, leading to quality decisions and great outcomes. Even though the substance of the text is sound and wonderfully articulated, there is one weakness worth mentioning. The “Try This” sections throughout are intended to provide a point of application. While this reviewer applauds the effort, these sections do not in their content rise to the quality standard of the remaining text. The presentation has a quality appeal to those preparing for and applying integrative thinking in real-world situations. Both graduate and undergraduate library collections would benefit from this source.
